The World of Fang Zhaoling

From the western viewpoint, it's hard to imagine the importance that the Japanese attach to their written language, which was first imported from China over 1,000 years ago. It's both a source of pride and beauty. After all, there aren't many other countries where grown adults regularly sit down to practise their handwriting. Chinese artist Fang Zhaoling is one of the leading practitioners of flamboyant calligraphy and this exhibition of around 100 of his works, including paintings, is sure to pull in appreciative crowds.
