The klezmer wave in Prague just keeps building and John Zorn is the latest force to be carried into Bohemia on it. A star of the US fringe known for inspired melding of musical forms, Zorn fronts a powerhouse combo that lays down a modern, edgy stripe of this Old World music. The sound of the traditional Balkan Jewish village is still clearly discernable in Masada's original pieces but with a healthy dash of modal jazz thrown in.
